One more week and I will finally be in the third trimester...the home stretch! While I am still able to fully function, I am noticing that certain activities are becoming more difficult and my body is starting to show its limitations. As our little man gets bigger, breathing is becoming a challenge. I have had a lot of tightness in my chest and a hard time catching my breath. Flying was difficult and uncomfortable and I am VERY thankful that we are not flying or driving at any time later in my pregnancy.
Bending over is still possible but my body is telling my that it is time to start trying different maneuvers. I stepped on the scale this morning and saw a new series of numbers that I have not seen before. I know it's a necessity and completely normal but it's still a tough cookie to swallow. From my low point, I am up 11 lbs. My eyelashes have begun falling out and the hair is growing on my stomach instead :( Overall, I am realizing that I am quickly approaching the time in my pregnancy when I can no longer be superwoman and I just have to take one day at a time.
Our trip back to IL will be our last before Baby V arrives and I couldn't help but think that these trips are only going to become more challenging very soon. We do our best to please everyone but in reality that just isn't always possible. I know the jury is still out on this debate, but the fact is we have three families to see when we go to IL. I know people feel slighted by this or try to be understanding but I really do hope everyone understands that we do the BEST that we can. We want to spend time with everyone. And when Baby V arrives we will work even harder to make sure everyone gets quality time but at the same time we need everyone to understand that we multiple obligations when we come to IL. This is why we encourage trips to Colorado!!!
Nicole Russell and Teri Heines hosted a baby shower for us on Sunday, 11/28. It was WONDERFUL!!! The ladies did an amazing job from the food to the decorations and I couldn't be more thankful for all of their hard work. We got a lot of really great stuff. I spent the morning unpacking and organizing Baby V's room. While we made out like bandits, I feel like there is so much more we need to get. Good thing I still have 3 months to divide and conquer!
Sunday was also Justin and my 2nd anniversary. One of these years we will actually get around to doing something special! Our time together has flown by and I am looking forward to the upcoming year. Our lives are about to change drastically as well as the dynamic of our relationship. And while I have no doubt that there are many challenging times that lie ahead of us, I know that we are both fully committed to this relationship and we will continue to work to make this a loving and happy home for us and our new family.

Happy Anniversary Boo...I love you!!!
And here I am at 26 weeks...
The network of nerves in your baby's ears is better developed and more sensitive than before. He may now be able to hear both your voice and your partner's as you chat with each other. He's inhaling and exhaling small amounts of amniotic fluid, which is essential for the development of his lungs. These so-called breathing movements are also good practice for when he's born and takes that first gulp of air. And he's continuing to put on baby fat. He now weighs about two pounds and measures 14 inches (an English hothouse cucumber) from head to heel. If you're having a boy, his testicles are beginning to descend into his scrotum — a trip that will take about two to three days.
Your baby's eyes — which have been closed for the past few months (so that the retina, the part of the eye that allows images to come into focus, could develop) — are beginning to open at 26 weeks pregnant. What this means is that your baby is able to see what's going on now (unfortunately the view in your uterus isn't all that exciting).
The iris, the colored part of the eye, still doesn't have much pigmentation (that'll fill in over the next month or two), so it's too early to start guessing your baby's eye color. Even the color your baby will be born with might not be the permanent shade; so you may be kept guessing until your baby is close to six months old.
