Had our 34 week check up this morning. Baby V is still cooking perfectly! I measured right at 34 cm and our boy's heart was at 135 bpm. She listened to his actual heartbeat and then checked the placenta which pulses at the same rate as the heart. It was a neat little learning experience and interesting to hear the difference between the two.
It amazes me how they are able to clearly distinguish which parts are what just by poking around at my belly. He is still head down (Yah!!!) and apparently 'rolled up in a tight little ball' according to Jen. She helped me feel his back, butt, and a leg which he kept kicking back at us...he was not happy with all of the poking around ;) To my surprise, she did a quick ultrasound on the "oldest operating ultrasound machine in Denver" so unfortunately the pictures weren't very clear but it's always fun to see our little man. And Baby V is definitely STILL a boy! I have had a weird feeling lately that he was going to come out a she but today was good reassurance for me.
I hit the +20 lbs mark this week. In all honesty I am very surprised (and thankful) with how my body has responded to pregnancy. It is so true that everyone is different when it comes to pregnancy and you really can't predict how your body is going to handle it. But I think I have been very fortunate...no excessive weight gain, no stretch marks, no swelling, no acne. All of the things I was expecting, I have been very lucky in avoiding. I can honestly say that I have enjoyed my pregnancy and I am amazed at how quickly the past 34 weeks have gone.
That being said, the anticipation is starting to drive me nuts and I am willing our boy to make an early appearance ;)
Lindsey
You look fantastic Linds! I am starting to get super excited about meeting our baby....I keep wondering what he or she looks like. Will they have lots of hair or no hair, will they be a butterball or long and lean, will I have a long labor or short labor and of course my confidence waivers in being able to do things naturally. Lately I have been worrying more about the baby being in the position it is supposed to be than I am of tearing during delivery :) Never thought I'd say that, but I must say I don't even care much about that anymore! Hope you are feeling well and handling these last few weeks well before your little man arrives. I know you'll be a fantastic mom!
